Established to provide interim care for infants in need,
the Cradle of Love Baby Home creates a safe environment
where babies receive proper nutrition and medical care,
as well as all the love and attention they deserve. Since
it responds to those found HIV positive, there will be times
when a baby dies; however, that infant will feel loved and
secure until its last breath. If you would like more information
about Cradle of Love, please ask us or visit

||Collecting
sun creams for albino children
If you have left over high-protection sun cream that you
do not need at home, please leave it with us. We collect
it and take it to our local charity shop, which then distributes
it to albino children in the area. Without sun cream protection
they are at very high risk of developing fatal skin cancers.
There is a little basket in the Asha Cottage Guest Information
area on the main verandah where you may leave your tubes
and bottles of sun cream.
||SUKUMA Kenya
The hand and shower soaps in your room are made by and purchased
from the LIMA Community Group here in Kwale county. They
are pure herbal soaps made with Aloe Vera that protects
your skin while leaving it soft and smooth. Aloe Vera is
also known to soothe itching and cool the skin after a
long day in the sun. The soaps are hypoallergenic.
||The Colobus Trust
The Colobus Trust is a conservation organization designed
to promote the conservation, preservation and protection
of primates like the rare Angolan Colobus monkey and its
coastal forest habitat in southern Kenya. It runs many projects
concerning wildlife, engaging citizens and visitors, animal
welfare, biological/ecological research, community development
and education, forest protection and enrichment and eco-tourism
awareness programmes. Asha Cottage is a monthly corporate
donor to the Colobus Trust. If you would like more information
about the Colobus Trust, please let us know, or visit
www.colobustrust.org.
||Amadeus Children’s Home
This home was recently established and takes in very vulnerable
children. It is run and managed superbly, and we are proud
to be among its local supporters. The home of course welcomes
financial contributions, but visitors wanting to help out
are also encouraged to help by purchasing essential items
of daily use in the home –i.e., rice, cooking oil, diapers,
clothes washing soap and cereals. Please ask us if you would
like to visit the home (it is a wonderful experience and
leaves you with a deep sense of something good being done),
would like to make a donation, would like to purchase and
take items, or simply if you would like to have more information.

||Asha Cottage Educational Fund
We believe first and foremost in education and in keeping
families together. Our biggest commitment by far lies with
the Asha Cottage Educational Fund. All staff of Asha Cottage
are entitled to apply for an education grant to help them
keep their children in school, and preferably, close to
them here in Coast province. The Fund covers costs relating
to admission, tuition, examinations, and school meals. The
amount received by each child is determined by his or her
school grades on a term by term basis. We replenish the
fund yearly, but welcome any and all donations to help us
out. Many children currently benefit – with more donations
we can go beyond the gates of Asha Cottage. Please ask us
for more information about this initiative if you are interested
in helping out.
Asha Cottage is a beautiful corner of paradise in a world
full of challenges. For this reason, we try to find ways
of giving back to the communities that host us. Asha Cottage
regularly donates funds and supplies to select organizations
working to help people and the environment, but we only
support organizations that we know personally and for which
we can personally manage donations on a one-to-one basis
to ensure they go where they are meant to go. We encourage
our guests to participate when they can.
